Well this week was honestly a pretty solid week

Well this week was honestly a pretty solid week here in Oxk.

We met with Lousi Alberto twice this week. The first time we went with a member around his age--and yeah we aren't bringing that member anymore. Let's just say that. Ummm, but he's really progressing really well and following through with is compromisos. We talked to him about the word of wisdom the first time and he said he would follow it. Then we go back on Thursday and he said he hadn't drank any, and we were so proud of him. The Spirit was so strong and we felt that he was telling the truth.  We go to Brother Chi's house on Saturday to eat lunch and he told us that Luis has been drinking. Idk--we just didn't really feel very good when he told us that. We didn't believe him. He went about telling us a very strange way and he just kept repeating the same thing over and over again. So idk, I think well just pray about it, and rely on the Spirit and what the Sprit is telling us

We went to Mani on Wednesday and worked there basically all day. Its a pueblo about the size of Fox Hills mas o menos and we just contacted a bunch. Well the district wants to do a blitz there and we have three sisters that are in Ticul. Let's just say that that activity won't happen. I don't wanna tell the story, but just imagine two full grown ripped men charging you, and not knowing what to do. We just stood there and acted calm. A lol is well, were alive :)

We went to go back to one of our contacts around our house and we go and she comes out and says her husband doesn't want us in her house, so we said we could teach her outside he gate in the calle. So she brought out chairs for us and we started teaching her. Her husband wanted to leave and we were kinda blocking the entrance way, and he just looked at us and he motioned like get out of the way or I'm gonna do move you myself. So I got right up and and I told my comp to get up, and so he walked out and just stared at us.  I was just like "hands up. dont shoot"   He walked out. So it started to rain and Hermana Balam told us to come in under her "roof" so we did.  We went in, and then we see her husband coming back, and I just got this horrible feeling in my body. He came up to us, got kinda close, and said something in Spanish.   I just told my comp we needed to go. We just walked insanely fast away from that house. As we were walking away from the house we heard Hermana Balam screaming and him screaming and I started to walk back to stop what was happening, and my comp told me I couldn't.  So that was insanely sad

Oh my--so we have a member named Gustavo. He's older.   Probably in his 20s.   He has a girlfriend. He's really less active. He's got super long finger nails--only on his pointer finger........cocaine.  So we had a cita with him on Thursday, so we went and he wasn't there, so we taught his girlfriend. It went well and then at the end of the lesson my comp asked Arraceli if they were married and she said yes.

Then my comp asked, "How old are you?"

Arraceli dijo, "Catorce"

Companion dijo, "Cuantos anos tiene su esposo"

Arraceli "26"......................bruh

Well we probably are gonna stop teaching her, just cause its a weird situation. And he's kinda strange. She's awesome----but shes only 14..........

Well we had one contact this week when we saw this guy opening a fruit and its called Yaka. I think its from India but they can grow it here.  The guy said its pretty tasty.

Well one thing that kinda bugs me about my companion is that he never wakes up at 630--its usually 730 or 715. I shower, eat, and everything and then I have to go tell him to get up.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyy. So close to becoming a realllllll missionary yesterday.... Oh mY--I legit thought I had. I had a little squeaker that I had to push out, and then I pushed more for some reason and--yeah shouldn't have. I went to go check and nothin'...miracles let me tell ya'!

Well we got some pretty aweeome new investigadoras yesterday. Named Yanin(21) and Alma(16).  They were a contact at a store. We have been trying to get to talk to Yanin for the past couple weeks, but nothing and her dad told us to come back on Sunday. So we went yesterday and she was there and we taught her and her sister. Well they really liked what we had to say and they don't really have any religion background. After they fed us this gnarly food. I'm super excited to see how they progress. Their dad has a bocho (VW bug)--which is actually a pretty nice one.  Only a few nice ones around her in oxk. I think I'm gonna }ask him if I can take it around the corner with him.

Well last experience for this week happened this afternoon. We came home from Ticul from getting the bikes and I couldn't find my camera. I got super stressed and starting to kinda freak out cause I lost it. I thought it was in the bus so I just was freaking out. I looked everywhere. I looked on the iron board nothing. I looked in the kitchen nothing. I looked in the five fridges we have that don't work. I looked everywhere. So I went to the room where we sleep and I shut the door and I just got on my knees and I prayed. I just told Heavenly Father that this camera was important to me and if He would please help me find it. I got up and looked for another five minutes and I turn around and lo and behold on the ironing board there was my camera.

Well you guys I know Heavenly Father loves us. He loves me. This camera had all my pictures from the mission on it and it was important to me. And Heavenly Father knew it was important to me. He really does listen to our prayers and answers and blesses us.

That's about it for this week

4 months (1/22/2018)

Well this week was a good one here in oxk. We had a baptism this week for Toto.

So first lets talk about our mission leader we got in this branch. On Wednesday when we had our correlation meeting he told us that he really wanted to work with us this week cause he hasn't really been. So we were like awesome--this is awesome--someone in the ward wants to work with us. So we never once got a call from him this week. We tried calling him and he never once answered.  Well, we had a baptism Saturday and he said he would be attending and he would call and make a program. So we were like 'awesome, we have help'. Welllllllllllll Friday night comes, and we still don't have a program, nor have we heard from the hermano. So we just waited till Saturday morning.  It was scheduled to be at 4, so at 12 we still hadn't heard anything so I took it into my own hands and I called Josiel (who is the first counselor in the Presidency) and he called some people and assigned some people talks and people for prayers and helped us out. We go to the baptism and he never even shows up... so annoying.   Well we are there at four and Toto shows up at 3:30 like he's supposed to, and we wait because his family isn't there.  4:30 passes, 5:30 passes....well finally at 6 they show up. Its a common thing down here to be late--but not that late. Its usually only thirty or forty minutes late to everything  (including church).

We have one awesome investigator named Louis Alberto. We taught him this week. We talked about the Book of Mormon and he knows its true and knows the iglesia is verdadra.  I felt impressed to ask him this question and I said, 'Hermano, so if you know all these things are true, what do you believe is the next thing you need to do?

He said,  'Well, hermano, I need to be baptized don't I?'.

Holy smokes--the Spirit just filled the room. Oh my. It was so awesome.  I looked at my comp and I was trying to hold my emotion back,  and I was just like holy smokes, did that seriously just happen?

So we committed him to a date. It was so awesome.

Well the mangos (I've learned here) are pretty dank.  I'm gonna start eating them more and more.

Oh okay--here's the last story. It was literally a miracle.

We get a call at 7 in the morning on Friday from Hermana Villareal, who is the spouse of President. She says I need you guys to run over really fast--my husband can't get up and he can't get out of bed. We get there and he literally couldn't get out of his bed.  Even if he moved his head slightly he would almost pass out and get all dizzy. So we gave him a blessing and left. That next day was the baptism, and so the young women had a activity and they got back and they needed to pay for the bus that took them to Ticul.  So Presidente was gonna come. But I was like 'Hermana, he can't get up.  He's insanely sick.'   So I was going to just pay for it 'cause it was just sitting there for like 30 minutes. Hermana said, 'No, he's coming'.   He showed up and he was literally walking perfect. And feeling perfectly fine.

Well that's about it for this week. I got a new companion Elder Nuñez. He's from VeracruZ. He's friends with Elder Olguin my first trainer. It will be an interesting change here in Oxk., but I'm trying to be positive. He likes to work hard from what I have seen so far.

Well that's about it for this week.

Love you guys,

Madi's baby looks like Harrison (but is cute).

That's all--k bye

Its been pretty chilly this week

Well this week was definitely a tough one. It was a good week but tough at the same time.

Zulma says that she doesn't want us to stop by anymore so that sucks. We'll pass by in a couple weeks, or I'll have the next missionaries pass by. I think she feels a little guilty, from News Years and all  the partying and knows that she's not supposed to do those things. Well its all good.

We got some pretty awesome new investigators this week. One of the less-actives that lives right by us is named Ignasio and he's like 65. And so we went to visit him cause his grandson asked us to. And so we did and we stopped by and he let us in. And we taught him about the importance of going to church, I wonder why... and he told us that he committed some bad sins and that he feels bad and he doesn't want to go back cause people will judge him. and I just told him that it wasn't true and that people honestly have no idea. And then I told him that David and Eduardo go to church alone every week, and their parents don't even go. And that they choose to go cause they know its important. And so they need an example in their life. So he needed to go to church. So I told him that if he didn't go that I was going to come to his house and find him. So he said okay "I will go." So he didn't go and so we went right after church to his hosue and we asked him where he was for chucrh and he said that his wife is super sick so we let him off the hook for this week. He's awesome. Good guy, good heart.

Oh my listen to this. So we went to go see one of our investigators that didn't want to listen to us anymore so we went anyway and so we say buenas and they come out and so first the little daughter comes out and says she's coming and so she runs back inside and then the big son comes out and hes like 10  years old and he says she's not here. So im like .......bruh. And so I start talking casually with him and so I got his mind off that we were there for his mom so out of the blue I just said can we talk to your mom. And he was like oh yeah one sec. And he ran inside and got her. Mannnn people these days!

Well Yaretzy is progressing super well. We taught her once this week and our goal for that lesson was to get confidence en su mama. So we asked to have her mom be in the lesson as well. So she came out and we were really focusssing on her. And at one point we asked her why she didn't want them baptized. And we aked her about her baptism and in reality if you remember my email from a couple weeks ago she said that she didn't remember anything from her baptism and we were like that's kinda interesting. So we asked her again what she remembered from her baptism and I asked her if she remembered who went and she told me who all went and I was like do you remember it and she was like yeah I remember it was a good day and it felt good. And so I was like Yaretzy knows The Book of Mormon is true and I said I don't know if you knew but she read the first chapter of The Book of Mormon all by herself the other night and at the end of reading she prayed. and then Yaretzy looked at her mom and nodded her head. and then we asked Yaretzy why we need to be baptized and she told her mom and then we asked her a bunch of other questions in front of her mom and she got them all right and her mom said yeah she knows and I was like yes, ok now is the time to pop the question. And so we did and she said no se. And then we asked why and she said the dad doesn't want to have them baptized. ugghhhhhh its all good. Some day!

Well my companion got bit by a dog this week. Luckily I ran from the dog and didn't get bit. It wasn't too bad. He didn't have to get any shots though. I just threw rocks at them when they start running after us. There are so many!

Its been pretty chilly this week. I had pretty bad asthma at the beginning of the week. I have my inhaler. Well it didn't do too much so i just waited it out and it went away. Still have a cold though and hawkin lots of loogies. real mexican now.

Well Mom and Dad, I am almost out of space in my journal so if you could send me some more journals that are bigger that would be awesome.

I'm living like a bum here. I didn't ever think i would have to but with the little money the mission gives you, you have to do with it. Its been a struggle. I eat a lot at breakfast, and only usually one serving for lunch and then nothing for dinner. But I'm starting to eat a lot healthier.

Well cambios are next week and I'm kinda nervous. I think I'm going to be training but maybe not we'll see.

Well okay heres a little experience that just reassures me that our heavenly father answers our simple prayers and questions...

Yesterday I just asked Heavenly Father for a humbling experience. I noticed that I was becoming insanely prideful and cocky in my work. The week before we had an awesome week and I got super cocky in my work. So I noticed yesterday that I wasn't able to be effective this way and I cant work like this. So I asked Heavenly Father in my prayers for a humbling experience. And low and behold he answered. We taught a lesson to Toto yesterday and my Spanish literally wasn't working. I said some stupid stuff and he looked at me like what the heck are you saying and he just couldn't understand me. And in this lesson I just got a feeling and something telling me that this was the lesson I needed to learn.

Well thats my week. Have a god week.
